Project Overview

Pixel Artworks were tasked with creating an immersive activation for the Adizero product line for Adidas. While I was Creative Technology Director at Pixel Artworks I created the first functional prototype of the running experience in TouchDesigner, iterating with the creative and technical teams to align technical direction with creative intent before resourcing a TouchDesigner development team to take the project to completion. The experience needed to embody speed, lightness and precision made tangible through technology. We designed a real-time environment where visitors could feel the engineering ethos behind the shoe, not just see it.

The Challenge

Brand activations live or die on dwell time and shareability. The installation needed deliver engagement instantly, communicate the brand story without words, and produce moments that attendees would organically share on social media. It also had to be robust enough for sustained high-throughput operation, with quick setup and teardown between venues.

The Solution

We built a real-time immersive LED experience synchronised with speed-tracking sensors that responded to each visitor's treadmill speed. As participants accelerated through the space, the visual environment evolved and they competed against an olympic level virtual running wearing Adizero running shoes, mirroring the sensation of pushing toward a personal best. Data from each run was captured and displayed on a leaderboard, turning the experience into a competitive, repeatable moment.
